Honor. Preserve. Unite.

A Legacy of Culture and Dignity for the Community

WE ARE FAMILY. Is the theme of Frederick Douglass Memorial Park now celebrating 90 years of providing a respectable burial place for the African American community as was the wish of Rodney Dade.

Frederick Douglass Memorial Park has exhausted its supply of available grave plots making fund raising, donations and grants the only source of money to pay for grave maintenance. The Conservancy was established as a 501(c) 3 Not for profit to obtain tax exempt donations and grants to pay for the renovation and rehabilitation of Frederick Douglass Memorial Park.

Today, we continue to carry forward the mission of those visionary founders by actively working to secure funding and support for the park’s ongoing preservation and enhancement. We believe in the importance of celebrating our heritage and ensuring that future generations can connect with the rich stories and contributions of African Americans throughout history. Through community engagement and collaboration, we strive to maintain the cemetery as a vibrant space for reflection and remembrance. As we look to the future, we remain dedicated to upholding the values that inspired our establishment and to fostering a deeper appreciation for the cultural significance of Frederick Douglass Memorial Park.
